The Winter Apocalypse is coming!
Winter awakened, and we had our first glimpse of snow of the season.
It was AMAZING!
Like, 4 feet deep AMAZING!
Shoveling snow replaced cardio on the treadmill AMAZING!
Made a snowman AMAZING!
Binge watched Netflix AMAZING!
Snacked all day AMAZING!
Shrouded in blankets; cozy sitting on the couch, sipping hot chocolate AMAZING!
I don’t know if it’s the cabin fever speaking or what, but I enjoyed the snowy days, gray skies, tranquil nights, and being surrounded by family. Hmmm, surrounded by family? Maybe, I should have this cabin fever checked out. Just kidding, we had a ball!
I got a lot accomplished!! The laundry hamper is empty, tax preparation is complete, and my things to-do list around the house has dwindled down to two outstanding items. Maybe the Winter Apocalypse was Mother Nature’s way of telling us to slow down and catch up.
Public Service Announcement, if you’re still snowed in, and you’re out of milk, but have raw almonds by the bags full- don’t fret. Milk is on the way!
Let me show you how this works because you’ll want this one in your fridge.
To begin, before you get around to blending your almonds you first want to sprout your almonds, by soaking them overnight for 8-10 hours. Why?
By soaking your almonds, you activate their enzymes. The outer skin of the almonds protects the almond until sunlight, and water can germinate it. Once it’s germinated, the enzymes are active thereby, allowing better digestion so your body can absorb its nutrients. You didn’t know that did you?
And now, that your almonds have soaked overnight you’re ready to make almond milk.
First, drain and rinse off your almonds.
To begin, you’ll need, a nut milk bag and a large pot or container.
Pour spring water into your blender, add almonds and dates.
Blend until completely broken down and a milky color appears.
Place nut milk bag into a large pot or container, then pour nut milk mixture into the nut milk bag.
Once you’ve extracted all the milk from the nutbag, transfer the milk into a pitcher then refrigerate.
OR
My favorite option, pour a fresh glass of almond milk, sprinkle with cinnamon, and Enjoy!!
Yeah, we got milk!
