Happy Saturday!
Just popping in to share my mixed fruit smoothie with you. You may not have a need for it now; it’ll all make sense on Thanksgiving. 🙂
Earlier this week, I stocked up on lots of beautiful, detoxing ingredients to include in my morning smoothies. Smoothies are ingrained in my life; I drink them all year round adjusting the fruits and veggies according to the season.
This morning I wanted the taste of kiwi. Kiwi fruit is not saturated with sweetness but has a tartness I love.
Made with freshly squeezed orange juice as the base, spinach, kiwi, frozen blueberries, and half of an apple.
This smoothie is loaded with all the essential nutrients the body needs to detox and replenish your system.
Spinach adds vitamins A, C, K, and folic acid.
It’s said that it increases stamina.
I also added spirulina and greens powder for an added boost of energy.
Thanksgiving is next week; you’ll need all the strength you can muster up if plan on surviving Grandma’s Thanksgiving feast.
Here are my three tips for surviving Grandma’s Thanksgiving Feast:
- Drink a green smoothie for breakfast and a hemp date milkshake for lunch. If you start to feel ravenous between meals, feel free to snack on nuts, raw fruits, and veggies. This will prevent you from overeating, and I guarantee your pants will still fit after dinner.
- Portion control, Portion control, Portion control. I know, this is where your eyes get bigger than your belly, and you want to eat like a Tasmanian Devil, but this can be avoided if you use smaller plates with small portions. The food isn’t running away (well, it might run away if you’re having Thanksgiving at Aunt Claire’s, just kidding Aunt Claire 🙂 ) there’s always room for seconds.
- Back away from the table, slowly, slowly, and put the plate down! Now, go do something. Like, help clean up there’s always a need for a dishwasher, hang out with the kiddos-that’ll get you moving, play football, basketball, rake the leaves for crying out loud, the point being is to keep moving by any means necessary. Sitting around telling the same story you told last Thanksgiving with food insight will only entice you to eat more than your belt buckle or shape girdle can handle.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving Holiday and may the force be with you!!

Haha…great advice, Tonya! And I could totally use one of these smoothies right now. I’ve come down with a nasty cold, and it’s way too early in the season for this kind of yuck. Smoothies for breakfast? 🙂
